The First Step is always the Hardest

I've never fancied myself as a writer, or even having thoughts that are worth sharing.  While the words may not be inspirational, I wanted to be able to share the images we capture and maybe you can find inspiration in that.

My First post will be dedicated to the young men that call themselves the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

After I broke my arms at the beginning of December 2013, I felt that the images I took of the Silverbacks were missing something and had been missing something since I started photographing the Silverbacks Since 2008.  I was browsing my images so far this season when it finally hit me, I was merely documenting the game and missing the most important part - the emotion.  I was failing to portray the people in the images properly and completely - there was no connection to my subjects.

So I set out on Jan 4th to document the game of hockey with a kindled sprit.   I posted a few photos to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Facebook Fan page and they seemed to be a huge success - people were connecting.

Hockey Fan or not, I hope you enjoy these images, and remember that what we usually see is only the tip of the iceberg.
